Biography of Dr. Masafumi HARA, President

Dr. Masafumi Hara was born to a ninth-generation doctorfs family in 1952.
He graduated from the School of Medicine, Fukuoka University in 1979. Dr.
Hara then joined as a member of the medical staff in the Department of
Orthopaedic Surgery, Fukuoka University. Meanwhile, he studied the anatomy
and surgery of the human shoulder under the supervision of the late Naoto
Takagishi, professor emeritus. In 1983, he learned the arthroscope shoulder
surgery under the direction of Dr, Hiroshi Ikeuchi, Professor at Tokyo
Teishin Hospital. He was awarded Ph.D. degree due to ethe Anatomical and
Clinical study of Arthroscopic Examination of the Shoulder Disorder.f in
1985. He became a lecturer in The Department of Orthopaedic Surgery, Fukuoka
University in 1988. In 1989 Dr. Hara took training of the arthroscopic
subacromial decompression under the supervision of Dr. Ellman, Professor,
the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery, the University of California at
Los Angeles, CA, US.

Dr. Hara took the chair of the executive vice president of Hisatsune Hospital in 1991. He is presently President and Chairman of the Board of Hisatsune Hospital since 2001. He also works as a clinical professor at the Division of Orthopaedics, Fukuoka University since 2010.
In 2018, Dr. Hara was awarded Academic Prize by the Japanese Clinical Orthopaedic
Association (JCOA) for his contribution to the academic promotion in the
field of orthopedic surgery and sports medicine. |
